Our goal is to help you live your best life with your dog. We understand that this looks different for every owner and dog, which is why we focus on a personalized approach to training. Through establishing a relationship with each and every client we strive to understand your goals and what you envision your life with your dog to look like. From there we customize a training plan to support you in reaching these goals. Our focus is on teaching you how to understand, communicate and train your dog, setting you up for long term success, by providing you with resources and a community of like-minded people through private lessons, training outings and group classes. Our training style is centered around building a confident, adaptable and well-mannered dog that fits into your lifestyle. We utilize a wide variety of training tools and approaches centered around you and your dog. Biological fulfillment and understanding a dog’s genetic makeup remains at the forefront of our mind as we navigate the training journey together. We focus on impulse control, frustration tolerance and building a strong dog-human relationship. The thing we are most proud of about the evolution of DK Canine Training throughout the years is the community we have built. We are honored to serve such a dedicated and committed group of dog owners that are always striving to live a better life with their dog. It is inspiring to see and is what motivates us to do more for our clients and our community. We are truly here to provide life-long support to you and your dog and a partnership that will last through generations of dogs.
Private lessons
Private lessons are one-on-one time with Kara. All new clients begin their training journey with DK Canine Training with a private lesson. This allows Kara to do a comprehensive evaluation of your dog, understand your life with your dog, set training goals and answer questions. Kara will be taking account of your day to day life with the dog, your training goals and how she can best implement the training to support your goals. People training and education being the largest of our priority in our initial lessons. It also allows you to get to know Kara and understand more about our training program. Spending one-on-one time with clients is the best way to personalize your approach to training and ensure your questions and concerns are thoroughly addressed.
Initial private lessons include 60-90 minutes of in-person time as well as a detailed follow up email and training plan customized to you and your dog. Follow up lessons include 60 minutes of in-person time. We highly encourage clients to ask questions and establish a line of communication with us for ongoing support.
Initial private lessons take place at Four Paws & Co. in Longmont, CO. We also offer in-home and on-locations lessons, for existing clients, which can be discussed with Kara based on your training goals.

Training Outings: Day/Train
Training outings are a great way to advance your dog’s training while you are busy at work. These are one-on-one training sessions with Kara, without you present. She will take your dog for a walk or to a dog-friendly location, such as a store or patio, to work on your specific training goals. This may range from leash walking, to dog-reactivity, to being calm in busy environments. This is ideal if you have a busy work schedule and want to make quicker progress in your training journey. You will receive updates from Kara after each outing.

An initial private lesson with Kara is required prior to scheduling training outings to understand where your dog is currently at and set goals.
